Balpara performs structural 3D Modelling services across both the mining and the construction industries. In this section you will find a summary of our most recent major projects.

Our electrical engineering division, performs design, drafting and site detailing services for a number of Australia’s major utilities. Due to the nature of the industry, which is more contract than project based, we have listed the disciplines that we complete projects in with some project and client details included.

Mining Projects

Over four decades, Balpara (formerly Bayside Drafting) has been involved in many major projects Australia wide and overseas. Some recent examples:

Construction Projects

Since 1976, Balpara (formerly Bayside Drafting) has working on many iconic Australian building projects. Some recent examples:

Distribution

On a regular basis, Balpara works on Customer initiated, Power quality, System and Substation Augmentation works projects for a number of  Australia’s major utitlities, such as Jemena, Western Power and CitiPower/ Powercor. The value of the projects range from $100K to over $1M.



Rio Tinto Mining – Tenix HV overhead line relocation

Balpara has been asked to perform a detailed design to relocate and upgrade the private HV network at the Rio Tinto mining site in Western Australia.

This project involves the upgrading of existing network infrastructure and the erecting of new high voltage lines to accommodate additional and relocated work sites.

The engineering has had to meet strict design criteria and standards with tight timeframes to be met. The drawings provided to the client are in Microstation and PDF formats with an attached drawing register.

Underground Design & Public Lighting

We regularly complete Public Lighting, Underground asset design, detailing and drafting projects for companies like CitiPower/ Powercor and SP Ausnet.

RTS CL 66kV Underground Cable Route Design

Balpara was commissioned to determine and design a cable route for a new 66kV cable from RTS to ZSS CL in the Melbourne metropolitan inner suburbs. This project involved the detailing of the cable route, design pulling and jointing pits, coordination with other authorities such as Gas, Water, Telstra, Optus and Tramways.

Drawings provided to the client demonstrated depth of cables, offset of cables, position of other utility assets, profiles of road crossings and civil engineering of pulling pits and joint pits.

The project was delivered on time and on budget to the client. 

 

Central Queensland Port Authority Conveyor and Transfer Station

Balpara design drafted the electrical wiring and switchboard panels of the control circuitry for the extension to the conveyor system and transfer station at the Port Gladstone site.
