Our Divisions
Working in our Structural division
The structural detailing business was the start of the Bayside Group, over 30 years ago. We have seen the impact software has had on our business and have been able to continually re-invent ourselves to ensure we use the latest technology at hand.
Our manual drafting tables have over the years been replaced by dual-screen desktops, using various licences of X-Steel and ProSteel. To live up to high quality drawing expectations we have over the years specialised in Structural Steel 3D Modelling, across various industries - anything from highly detailed architectual buildings to large conveyors in the mining industry.
We employ structural draftspeople with different levels of experience, at least once a year we have a vacancy for a traineeship and depending on size and type of project work, we regularly have vacancies for new staff - please view our current jobs.
Working in our Electrical division
Not long after our Structural department took off, we recognised a need to combine structural with electrical drafting. Since then, Balpara’s electrical division has been growing steadily and has evolved into an engineering powerhouse, providing design engineering, drafting and site detailing to many of Australia’s major utilities. Whether you are an experienced design engineer, graduate electrical engineer, project manager or school leaver with a keen interest in learning technical packages, we might have a role for you and a professional development plan to suit.
Working as a consultant
By placing our staff at client premises, for as long as the client requires the skills, we offer them flexible solutions to assist clients in completing their project in time.
This means that when you work as a consultant, you could be placed in Melbourne one week and Brisbane the next - a most exciting travel opportunity! We help you with your travel, accommodation and any other support services you may require. However, some of our outplaced staff are based with clients on a more permanent basis, allowing them to stay close to friends and family.

Professional Development
Over the last few years, Balpara has not only grown in size, but has also added new services to its product mix. This means lots of exciting opportunities for not only new recruits, but most importantly, also for the career paths of our existing staff. Through the Bayside Group, our parent company, our staff can attend a number of internal and external courses, to enhance their skill base.
Balpara is committed to supporting the development of its people via a mix of on-the-job and external training courses. Both our electrical engineering Graduate programs and personalised development plans utilise the Engineers Australia Professional Development Program (PDP) as a framework to track and monitor your professional development. At the completion of your PDP, you may elect to undertake the Engineers Australia professional interview to achieve chartered status.
In addition, the Bayside Group has a dedicated Human Resource Manager, who can assist with any development our staff my seek. Our six monthly performance reviews, help us assess where we are at in relation to achieving our yearly goals and provide us with a great opportunity to have in depth one on one discussions with our managers. This is an opportune time too to determine any areas which may need support.

Graduate Program
Electrical Engineer Graduates
Graduates will enter a team environment and become involved in both technical and project work, giving them practical application to the engineering concepts studied at University. All projects and rotations are exciting, challenging and designed to stimulate and encourage your input and growth. The objective is to immerse the Graduate into both field and office based experiences and projects that enable the Graduate to develop the competencies to practice as a professional engineer.
Graduates are provided with clear and defined career pathways. Rotating through Distribution, Protection & Control and Project Management.
When? Opportunities can arise at any time of the year as we do not have a set date for graduate “intake”.
How many graduates do you employ each year? Each year we look to appoint a minimum of 2 Electrical Engineering Graduates into our program.
What type of graduates do you look for? We seek Electrical Engineering graduates who ideally have an interest in the utilities or power sector.
Our employees are energetic, well-rounded and innovative team players, who have great written and oral communication skills, can demonstrate life experience working with customers and/or the community, and who have the potential to be developed into one of our company's future leaders.
What does the application process involve? An online application will generally provide a resume, cover letter and information relating to your most recent academic transcript. Once applications have closed we undertake a thorough screening process and if short-listed you may be contacted for a brief telephone discussion. Further selection activities may involve cognitive abilities testing and a face-to-face panel based interview.
After I apply, when should I expect to hear from you? Applicants will then be contacted after the closing date has expired, once all applications have been reviewed. Please note, due to the large number of applications that we receive, those that are unsuccessful in the initial screening stage will be notified via email only.
Please note that applicants should have completed their qualifications in the last two years and must be Australian residents / citizens at the time of commencing employment.
Trainee Programs
Trainee Programs - giving candidates the opportunity to gain a career while getting paid for valuable work experience. We offer two electrical and structural drafting trainee programs.
